Mojawa Run Plus Refurbished

Last month, I bought the Mojawa Run Plus bone conduction headphones after watching Andy's Tech Tone's review on YouTube. I've tried a bunch of bone conduction headphones over the years—multiple generations of FINIS and Shokz—but Mojawa was a brand new one for me.

And wow, was I impressed! The sound quality is amazing underwater—music sounds crisp, and audiobook voices come through super clearly, which is exactly what I wanted. They work just as well on land too. I actually got to compare them side-by-side with cheaper and more expensive models, and the Mojawa blew them all away. Super comfortable to wear and easy to use.

The only hiccup at first was the touchpad acting up in MP3 mode when wet. The manual’s instructions for locking the touchpad weren’t super clear. But I emailed customer service, and Jessie (shoutout to her!) replied lightning-fast with a fix—just tap the power button four times in Bluetooth mode (you’ll hear a beep to confirm it’s locked), then hold to switch to MP3 mode.
The one downside is that loading MP3s is a bit of a hassle, but that’s true for all waterproof bone-conduction headphones. I use AudioHijack (free software) to convert audiobooks to MP3s, and now I can listen for hours while swimming. So good!

Contacted customer service and they sent me a replacement right away - gotta give them props for their awesome after-sales service!

These headphones are perfect for workouts, whether you're doing housework or swimming laps. The sound quality obviously can't compare to professional studio equipment, but it's more than enough for daily music listening and binge-watching shows. Just a heads-up: Bluetooth doesn't work underwater (don't believe those ads that say it does), so you'll need to switch to MP3 mode by double-clicking and holding the power button. Sure, it's a bit old-school having to transfer songs via USB cable, but the uninterrupted music playback in the water is totally worth it.
Here's a pro tip (not mentioned in the manual): Quickly press the power button four times to lock the controls, so splashing water won't accidentally trigger them during swimming. You can choose to wear earplugs or not - the sound experience is slightly different either way, so try both to see which you prefer. Once you're back on dry land, just double-click and hold again to switch back to Bluetooth mode for wireless listening.

After using them for so long, I still think they're totally worth it. Highly recommended for fitness enthusiasts!

These immediately felt really comfortable and I was really happy with the sound.

After a bit more wear, however, I'm finding my ears getting a bit sore and the sound is quite quiet. That being said, unlike shokz, there isn't any external speaker I can see, so this could just be a drawback of the type of headphones here.
